  • What is Food Handlers Training??
    Food Handler’s Training (FHT) is the MANDATORY training that any food handler who works in any food premises in Malaysia has to undergo. This requirement is outlined in Regulation 30 of Food Hygiene Regulations (FHR) 2009
  • Who is a Food Handler?
    According to the interpretation of FHR 2009, a “food handler” includes anyone who
    a. directly involved in food preparation,
    b. comes into contact with food or food contact surfaces,
    c. handles packaged food, unpackaged food or appliances,
  • How long is the duration of this Training?
    The duration of the training is not less than three (3) hours.
  • How much is the fee for this Training?
    The fee for the training is RM50.00 per participant and the fee is fixed by MOH.
  • How long is the Validity of this Certificate?
    At this moment, a food handler only has to undergo this training once in a life time, subjected to the provision in Regulation 30(2) that states The Minister may, if he thinks necessary, require any food handler’s training any additional training in any institution approved by the Director.
  • What is the action that can be taken by authorities if a foodhandler does not undergo this training?
    Any food handler who works in any food premises that fails to undergo this training commits an offence and shall, upon conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding ten- thousand-ringgit (RM10,000.00) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years.
